Back drop & Test footage
The band members would like their album cover behind them whilst they are playing in the music video, this will involve a blue screen behind them and I will edit in the album cover in the post preduction stage. This could look really effective if i do it right!
I also, last week, did some test footage in the tv studio where the band are going to perform, they decided they didn't want to perform to a crowd as they want the video to be simple and have a strong narritive. I really enjoyed working with different exposure levels on the video camera in order to create a silouette effect that the band would like, I think it will look really effective.

It's all coming together,
I have now found two actors to be a part of the music video as none of the band wanted to act in it. Charis Bailey will play the girl who is heart broken, and Josh Adams will play the male who is leaving her. He dies during the video and she is left torn apart. I will be filming these parts on the 7th and 14th of December.
I have decided against shooting the band in the middle of a forest as I would not be able to turn the lights on as i do not have a genertaor. So I will be filming the bands scenes in the TV studio at college. Then there will be a very big contrast between the band and the narrative which is what I wanted. I have disscussed this with band and they are more than happy about this decision as they wanted to keep the music video quite simple.
The band will be in the video and the location for the filming of the bands scenes will be in the TV Studio on the 15th of December. I am really looking forward to shooting both parts to the music video and cannot wait to get stuck in and edit!!

Meeting with Lead Guitarist
Luke Ready is the Lead Guitarist in the band and we met up for coffee to discuss the bands ideas for the music video, the ideas largely consisted of explosions, metorites, bombs, fireworks etc - which I had to explain I was unable to accomidate this within the music video as firstly I had no budget for the music video and secondly it would be a health and saftey risk to have fireworks within the music video.
So we came to a decision together that the music video would be heavily based on the narrative of a boy and girl in a relationship that has come to an abrupt end, and let the audience work out why so that they can relate it to their own experiences.

Direct Reference to my music video
This music video by Green Day - Wake me up when september ends, has inspired the idea for my unsigned (soon to be signed) band - Old Versus New. I have met with a member of the band called Luke on a number of occasions and have discussed ideas with him which he has passed onto the band. They are very keen to be involved in their music video as much as possible. The idea of a metorite crashing to earth was mentioned but i had to let the band know that with my budget the idea would not be able to happen.
I have had so many ideas so far but it's all starting to come together now.
The locations that i would like to film are in a forest in mousehold heath, The hill at the top of mousehold, in a field called Braydeston Hills and also i would like to use the TV studio.
The band will be placed in the TV studio and also in the forest, i would like their instruments to be involved too like they are playing to a crowd in the tv studio.

Lyrics
Old Versus New – Blue Skies and Broken Dreams lyrics
First Verse
You can set me free
When my heart implodes it’s the time to save me
And time will guarantee that if we lose our minds will you stay with me?
Don’t Close (don’t close)
Your eyes (your eyes)
Before (before) they rise
Chorus
Tonight we fall apart would anyone believe
Distractions rise to breathe
(Blue skies and broken dreams)
Her world will fall apart and everyone will see
This is the land of broken dreams
(Blue skies and broken dreams)
2nd Verse
We walk into the sun
We turn to dust (we turn to dust)
We merge as one (we merge as one)
And time will clear these eyes???
To be ever free (to be ever free)
With no need to fight
Don’t close (don’t close)
Your eyes (your eyes)
Before (before)
Chorus
Instrumental from 2:26 till 3:20 (heavy guitar) 3:31 =piano
Chorus again
Blue skies and broken dreams x2

Meeting with Lead Singer
This is the lead singer of the band Gary.
His band 'Old Versus New' have agreed to be the band in my music video.
Myself and Gary had a meeting earlier about the content of the video that his band will be performing in. He has agreed to bring all the bands equipment such as amps, guitars, keyboard, mocrophone and any other equipment that i will need in order for it to look like the band are not miming the track.
He and the band are very keen to assist me in this project and are happy to be part of it.
All of the band members are very reliable as they take their music pretty seriously.

Green Day Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
I would really like to use some of the effects used in this music video, such as the burning and dodging at the begining which makes it look older. Samuel Bayer also directed American Idit by Green Day aswell.

Chronophotographie (fragments) from DaBrainkilla on Vimeo.
This video is completely different from the mainstream video from My Chemical Romance, it uses stop motion which i would like to use within my music video. The music is the less important thing in this music video its all about the action and as there are no lyrics in the song it enables us to focus more one whats going on in the life of this person.
Video Analysis
This Video is one of my favourites, i really like how they use appeture on the camera to create a circle effect. The set is so well designed, the backdrop "The City Of Death" is very detailed and took a day to put up. The camera work is also not just simply on a tripod, the cameras are airal and move above the action to create a parade effect. The story behind the video is that the character "The Patient" is dying at a young age and remebers when he was a young boy his father took him to the city to see a parade, the band wanted this to reflect that when you die you go to the place you were most happy, however when you die theres a slight twist almost like a dream. i think that the director Samuel Bayer who has made some of the most iconic videos, really captures the bands ideas aswell as his own to create this extravagant music video. I really admire how music videos of today are more about telling a story rather than just on a stage performing to an audience with close up shots. The use of a macro lens enhances the blur effect and i really like the slow motion used within this video, its at just the right times. The band also designed the costumes themselves which i think clearly shows their individuality and the fact that they want to be different and extreme.
My Chemical Romance Behind the scenes
Behind the scenes FACINATES me, and I would love to be involved in a music video like this with a big budget surrounded by creative people.
